All organisms store information as DNA. This information is carried and released by RNA, and transformed into proteins, large organic molecules which perform cellular functions. The “central dogma” of molecular biology states that the flow of genetic information is “DNA to RNA to PROTEIN”. This simplistic model is valuable in understanding the flow of information in biological systems.
