Valuable research and educational resources available: University of Pretoria
UPSpace
UPSpace is an open access research repository of the University of Pretoria (UP). It is a digital archive of all research output by UP researchers. The set of services includes the collection, storage and preservation in digital format, and retrieval of research items such as research articles and reports, conference papers and presentations, chapters of books, radio and TV interviews and video and slide collections submitted to UPSpace. The latter is ranked second highest in sub-Saharan Africa and has moved to 118th place on the worldwide webometrics list. Visit UP Space at www.repository.up.ac.za/.
A collection of audiovisual and research resources are available on AfriVIP, including slide collections, videos, PhD defences (narrated) and other scientific presentations.
PhD defences:
- Huchzermeyer, DK (PhD): Pansteatitis in African sharptooth catfish, Clarias gariepinus (Burchell), in the Kruger National Park, South Africa
- Masevhe, N (PhD): Isolation and characterization of antifungal compounds from Clerodendrum glabrum var glabrum (Verbenaceae) used traditionally to treat candidiasis in Venda, South Africa.
- Mawela, KG (PhD): Evaluation of RANTES analogue expression in Nicotiana benthamiana and Lycopersicon esculentum and their topical microbicidal activity.

Currently the AfriVIP slide collection is grouped into three categories (infectious and parasitic diseases; ecosystems and ecology; wildlife production and management). As more slides become available other categories will be created. You may have valuable slide collections that are “gathering dust”. It will be much appreciated if you can make these available to this platform.
